Everything included with the Laco RAD-AUX merges the fictional lore of the Fallout series with the real history of watchmaking. It’s a story told through wasteland artifacts, waiting to be uncovered.
Meticulous weathering treatment give a feeling of authenticity to an object from a fictional universe. The Laco RAD-AUX and all included artifacts have been hand aged to look like an in-game inventory item.
Concept + Design
Research for the Laco RAD-AUX was thorough and extensive. The knowledge gained helped us contextualize the Laco brand within the world of Fallout, giving real meaning to the end product. Laco is known for making tool watches, so for the RAD-AUX design, the form had to follow a fictional function. (alliteration points!)
Purpose was given to the RAD-AUX by designing it as a partial redundancy for the PIP-BOY wrist computer present in the game. Should the PIP-BOY become compromised, the RAD-AUX can be used in conjunction with a rad-meter to measure the rate of fallout, and help time/limit further exposure.
